Hillary Clinton has a plan for her husband, Bill, and his legacy, one that will have a huge impact on how she sees herself and the world.
Clinton told her husband on Wednesday that she is looking to work in the White House as a part-time “strategist,” and she will use her power to create the kinds of opportunities she believes are possible for women.
“We have a lot of challenges in this country, and I want to do everything I can to make sure that we all can get ahead,” Clinton told Bill Clinton, according to the Associated Press.
“I’m not just saying it to try to be the most perfect husband possible.
I want everybody to feel like they can get to where they want to be.”
The former first lady said her goal is to have an impact on the lives of women, and she is committed to doing so.
“I think I am a better wife because of it,” Clinton said.
“And I think I can do that as a role model.
And I want people to see me as a better person, because I think there is a difference between a wife who is a stay-at-home mother, a stay at home dad, and a stay home dad who’s also a feminist and a woman.”
Clinton said she would be willing to work on women’s issues, and said she will look to the “most progressive, progressive, female, progressive people” in the country to help make that happen.
Clinton has also spoken about the importance of women and their experiences in the workplace, which is why she decided to leave the White Senate, where she was first elected, in January.
She said in an interview with ABC News that she felt that it was a time when the country needed her and she wanted to make a difference in the world, but she also realized that the country did not need someone like her anymore.
“And it was important for me to leave because I just felt it was the right thing to do,” Clinton continued.
“In the end, I didn’t feel like the time was right to be a part of the political process and be a political voice, and so I decided I would go home and do something that would give me a voice, but also to be involved in the economy, I would do something to help people get ahead.”
Clinton also addressed her role in the Trump administration during an appearance on “Good Morning America” Wednesday.
In an appearance with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, Clinton said her husband will have more than a year to decide whether to run for president in 2020.
“[He] will have that decision to make,” Clinton explained.
“But he’s not going to make it until the end of 2021, and he will be very focused on that.
And that’s what I think the American people are going to have to see.”
